Tree Risk Assessment

A tree risk assessment helps a landowner comply with the Occupiers Liability Act 1957 and 1984, ensuring trees do not injure persons or damage property. This places a duty on the landowner to ensure the reasonable safety of a visitors and, in the 1984 amendment, extends this duty to any non-visitors (trespassers). There are also statutes in place to ensure that dangerous trees within falling distance of highways are dealt with appropriately so that the risk of falling trees affecting traffic is reduced.

From large landowners and local authorities to homeowners with individual trees, I can offer the advice to give you an understanding of your trees’ condition, what you can do to improve it and what can be done to reduce the chances of damage to people or property as a result of tree or limb failure.

I am fully qualified and regularly carry out this type of work, from a single tree to entire housing estates. I can provide plans showing accurate tree positions, data detailing condition, recommendations to reduce risk and priority ratings, to help you plan which trees to manage first and allow for budgetary planning.

I offer two levels of survey – a survey by exception, also known as a negative survey, and a full tree inventory. Obviously all trees are assessed in both surveys but in a negative survey only those requiring works are recorded whereas all trees are recorded and plotted in a full tree inventory. The former survey represents a cost saving to you as it takes less time to complete than a full tree inventory.
